Spring Forward With P20: One Client’s Fitness Transformation

Read about one of our longest standing clients, Harisha Bastiampillai, who recently shared his story of how doing EMS with P20 finally generated the results he’d been looking for. Prior to starting EMS in January of 2019, Harisha took group fitness classes like Bodypump™ and spin. He also worked with a personal trainer for a time.
Diagnosed with diabetes in 2007, Harisha started diabetes medication, but this did not help him meet his health goals or significantly lower his A1C. He says: “I’d been working out for years but just had flat results. I was in a rut, not seeing much progress. I was looking for something more.” After passing our studio for two years on his way into the gym, Harisha finally tried EMS after co-owner and trainer Carmen Ruiz persuaded him to give it a try.
Harisha started seeing significant results within only eight sessions and those results kept growing steadily. P20 tracks clients’ weight, waist measurement and strength. While we’ve since changed the format of our strength test, we used to measure how many squats and push-ups a client can do in one minute and how long they can hold a plank on their toes.

After just those first eight sessions, Harisha improved by 22.5% in his lower body strength and by 47.5% on his last strength test. His upper body strength initially progressed by 27.27% and also almost 50% by his last test. Harisha increased his core strength by a whopping 63.3% and then by 118.2% at his last test—more than doubling the original time he could hold a plank. Overjoyed with the impressive results, Harisha recalls: “Everyone comments on how much I’ve changed in my physical appearance,” which felt great after being stuck for years.
But, to Harisha, it’s more than just how he looks. Harisha notes that “My blood sugar has been lower since starting P20. My A1C is 6.2, which is actually in the prediabetic range.” His bloodwork is also excellent, with lower cholesterol and triglycerides. Harisha started with only one EMS session per week but increased to two sessions per week once he recognized how much his fitness and health improved.
